Sometimes you just need to have an old-school pop-punk banger to get you through the day. That youthful energy and anguish can just hit the right spot when going through a tough time, and Orlando-based group A New Violet got that sound down. Their debut EP The Heat is Getting Hotter is filled with festival-ready tracks, including the very fine jam "Let Go".
There's something summery from the start of the track, with its upbeat drums, shiny guitars and backing "oooohs". When vocalist Beth Vandal enters, you might think you're hearing the second-coming of Paramore; she's got the pipes, the attitude and knack for melody down. She attacks the chorus with pop savvy without losing any of the anger and power that makes pop-punk so invigorating.
