Well I love this week, and not just because it was Valentines day. There's a ton of amazing albums and songs that dropped, and it's got me stoked for some quality listening time this weekend.
Punk troubadour and all-around bad ass Laura Jane Grace has dropped her second solo album, and based on what I've heard so far, it's even better than the last. UK punk band Idles are back, and continuing their fearlessness as they branch out their sound. Indie godfather Grandaddy is back with his first LP in years, and excellent upstarts Royel Otis have their debut album out. Finally, there's a new EP out from Joker's Hand.
And where to start with new songs this week? Vampire Weekend announced their new album last week, and this week are showing off two fine new singles. Pearl Jam made the formal album and tour announcement and dropped a barnburner. Multiplatinum alt pop band Wallows have a new single, along with nu-pop-punkers girlfriends. Britpoppers Kaiser Chiefs shared another track from their new release, and Strung Out's second song from their forthcoming album is golden.
L.S. Dunes aren't done dropping new music, even as Anthony Green is out on a solo tour, and Stephen Kellogg continues to showcase his amazing songwriting chops. Rock legend Ian Hunter has a new solo song, featuring drums by the late Taylor Hawkins. We're also excited to have new music from Rare Americans, Beatenberg, Hot Water Music, Ben Crane, Royal & Serpent, The Ballroom Thieves, Stephie James, Maisy Kay, Wildes, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Mad Caddies, Standards, Solar Bloom, Dandy Warhols, Waxahatchee, The Suicide Disease, We the Kings, Flo Gallop, SkizzyMars, Gone Gone Beyond, SYML, Iann Dior, The Black Crowes, Dent May, Robby Hecht and Slaughter Beach, Dog.
And we're welcoming Andrea Von Kampen, Fears, Wes Parker, ONOFF, Speedfossil, Bess Atwell, J.M. Clifford, For Heads Down, For I Am, Shines, Evanora:Unlimited, mega cat, LOVECOLOR, Sam Evian, Nan Macmillan, Past Life Romeo, S. Raekwon, Dylan Taylor, Jessica Pratt, Tansu, The Secret Sisters, Alfie Templeman and Maya Hawke to the playlist for the first time this week, as they all have new songs you deserve to hear.
