| unclewalker February 7 | STORY – 1 DIRECTOR – 1 ACTOR – 1 MUSIC – 0 CULT – 0 VERDICT – 3/5 PROS - 1) The death of Agent 009 and an auctioned Faberge Egg lead Bond on a mission to India to uncover a jewel smuggling operation involving tycoon Kamal Khan and the mysterious Octopussy. Here he uncovers a plot hatched by a Soviet general to force disarmament in Western Europe with the use of a nuclear weapon. 2) Kabir Bedi had a bigger but meaningless role. Meanwhile, Vijay Amritraj's smaller role was much better with smart one-liners. Him playing the Bond Theme with a snake flute was outstanding. 3) Planes, trains, and automobiles. Action-adventure set pieces from start to finish. The rickshaw chase through Indian bazaar is top-notch. 4) The buzz-saw yo-yo killer. Impressive weapon. CONS - N/A QUOTE - Bond: What can you tell me about Kamal Khan? Vijay: Exiled Afghan prince. Sportsman - polo, cricket, tennis. I play a bit myself. Bond: Really? Vijay: As a matter of fact, I've got a part-time job as a pro at Kamal's club. Bond: What have you learned so far? Vijay: My backhand's improved. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
