Sami Freeman's "Space Bath": An Auditory Journey
Sami Freeman, a composer based in San Francisco, is set to release "Space Bath" on Friday, Feb. 16. This immersive 22-minute experience defies genre, providing a constantly shiing sonic landscape designed to invoke memories and stimulate the imagination.
Described as "feeling like light but actually being sound," "Space Bath" is an introspective piece that skillfully intertwines emotional vignettes through a cinematic soundscape. The composition is layered with deep bass, synth and organic instrumentation, resulting from Freeman's explorations on grand pianos and foreign synths that yielded otherworldly sounds.
During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Freeman collaborated with producer James Jackson, utilizing their home studios to capture the fear and beauty of the world in real time. This emotional processing is evident in the rich textural tones and varied yet satisfying sound palettes that characterize "Space Bath."
The project serves as a vehicle for healing through sound, offering listeners a meditative element to explore their own lives and find illumination. Upon release on digital streaming platforms on Feb. 16, "Space Bath" will be accompanied by a listening guide to gently steer individuals through their own introspective journeys.
Pre-orders for "Space Bath" are available now through Bandcamp.
