This week has been a mixture of relaxation and character building episodes with those that completely destroyed the main character from a foundational level. Ok, that is mainly Synduality vs the other shows but that is still balanced to me.
Table of Contents (Click to see thoughts on a show/episode from last week)
This episode was in two parts, like most of the show has been so far and one of them is classic dungeon crawler stuff. However, the first part with Liaos jumping into paintings to find something to eat was interesting. Especially since the three paintings he jumped into had food at different timelines in a princes' life. The other half focused on Chilchuck's hatred of minicks where he encounters one in the middle of the night and opens up a bit more about himself. Real cool combination of episodes.
Wonderful! Precure Episode Episode 2
This show is good cartoons. The plot has made it's appearance a bit with some more details and a funny cartoon sheep named Mei Mei. Apparently the animals can return to Niko Niko Garden in a suitcase to recover. This episode already dealt with Komugi turning into a human and talking animals then slowly introducing the abilities that Iroha will get when she turns into Cure Friendly to help Komugi/Cure Wonderful to help it. It's just good, hilarious, and heart warming stuff.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Episode 22
Good relaxation episode after the first part of the Hunter (first class mage) exam. It was great to see Stark, Frieren, and Fern together again going out to eat and the usual dealing with Fern's interesting attitude. Also, it's interesting to see some of the other cast members living their lives and going out to eat. The flashbacks to Frieren eating in that restaurant 80 years ago with Himmel and crew then seeing her with her current crew and enjoying the change of flavors now. It's just good stuff.
Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange Episode 18
It will air next week. This week was a recap episode for some reason.
The Apothecary Diaries Episode 18
I feel like an idiot because the reveal of who Lakan/The Strategist was existed the whole time right in front of me. But the build up was so good. Especially with this guy being a menace at Maomao's home brothel and the sick woman with Syphilis that Lakan was definitely involved with. Lakan wanting Maomao back is kind of horrifying because he's not a good guy at all. Though I do think the weird relationship between Maomao and the woman Suirei is interesting.
A Sign of AffectionEpisode 6
Is there going to be an episode of this show which isn't going to be cute? Because this one was just so good. Itsuomi and Yuki becoming a couple was a good time and it was handled so well. I loved the shocked expressions on Rin and Kyouya's face when the two walked back into the bar and Yuki quickly joined them. I also like that Itsuomi really does crush on Yuki for such wonderful reasons even if he's about to travel for a month. So clear bits of trouble are on the way, but I'm just going to keep smiling for this week.
Synduality Noir Part 2 Episode 5
The downfall of Kanata and everything he has been built up happened in this episode. Last episode had Noir/Mystere fighting for control with each personality attempting to take over the body. Now Kanata is going after a body for either Noir or Mystere to take over and Kanata and Ciel heading toward Amissa and that is the base for the organization that is after him, Lead. Only this time, Tokio is actually apart of that organization now with his brother Macht and Ciel has continued to report on Kanata's activites the whole time. Besides the interesting chemistry between the brothers and then Kanata just being taken down for his Magus. Alba is currently watching over Noir/Mystere and I can't help but think that Noir and Mystere might fuse together to save their master. Just a lot of things are going on here and I am kind of worried to watch more. How will Kanata come back from this?
Metallic Rouge Episode 5
Really out of this world kind of episode this week. Part of it is Rouge in a dream sequence focused on her watching a form of her hanging around her brother playoff piano that moved to her talking to the members of the nine she killed and then her brother telling her to kill the rest of the nine for revenge. Major theme of that to me, coming from the ring master(?) is Rouge finding her own way to live. The other half, before the Nean fight was Naomi getting help from the thieve on the bus to find Rouge in a pretty cool environment. Then the Nean fight happens which is revealed the Circus may be working with the Usurpers and a lot of other things like that obvious black armored guy. This episode does feel like a YouTube turning point in Rouge's story.
Urusei Yatsura (2022) Season 2 Episode 5
This episode was a continuation of Mendou meeting his fiance in that more of that this is Mendou 's time to meet the daughter of the Mizukandoji family. That Mizukandoji daughter broke out of her armor after fifteen years of not seeing any men and as you would expect, she ran away. This episode introduced a horrible system that it poked at it's flaws by introducing the scum of Ataru and Mendou. Though she's slowly breaking out of it as she met her brother and she's slowly getting used to the idea of men when they aren't after her. It's an interesting but good time.
The Fire HunterSeason 2 Episode 5
It is kind of annoying that this show is still walking in circles or spinning it's wheels in regards to last week's episode and possibly the whole season a little bit. I keep thinking about what this episode did compared to last episode and it was Koushi and Kun reuniting with Touko and Akira and then only one of them, Kun, staying with Touko and Koushi breaking off again with the other fire hunter Rokouro and then just going on his own anyway. The only difference is that all three groups have a letter for the gods on Muku paper. That's it.
Brave Bang Bravern!Episode 5
It's only a week until the crew will be in Japan to fight the aliens, so this was the breather episode. In between Lulu watching non Kamen Rider and the crew practicing, training, and letting off steam, Smith has been trying to talk to Isami whi feels like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Bravern is the interesting guide in this. The two do eventually talk it out in a boxing match in front of the whole navy so that's a good and fun thing for everyone. Plus Bravern is just building models in his own hangar. I'm worried about the tension coming next episode, but it's a good good.
