Let me tell you, I am so happy to send the end of January. It was a big month and now that it's over, hopefully, things are going to start to settle down. We'll get into all of that in this post, so let's just jump in.
Reading
I read 8 books this month and considering everything that was going on, I'm pretty happy with it. I was fully convinced I was going to end up with only 5 reads so I'm glad I snuck a few others on. I shared reviews of most of these in my most recent review post, but the others are part of other posts which you'll hopefully see this month.
TV & Movies
Usually, this is my smallest section, but in January I watched a lot of stuff. First up, I watched the last two episodes of What If? season one and the two-part documentary of Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields. These were just random things to put on while knitting. My partner and I also rewatched Barbie and loved it just as much the second time.
And now we get into the big ones, I watched the first five episodes of the new Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. If you've been here a while, you'll know that I love Percy Jackson—my cat Percy is named after him, so I was obviously excited for this. I think they've done an incredible job so far and I'll be watching the last three episodes tonight. I think the actors are fantastic—Walker Scobell is adorable as Percy. I hope it gets renewed because I just really want to see the later books in the series come to live.
And finally, I watched 106 episodes of Grey's Anatomy this month. I was a few episodes off the end of season 5 when I started and now I'm a little into season 10. I was using this as background noise while knitting and I was doing a lot of knitting. I think part of the reason I got through it so quickly was because I've been spoiled for most of the big things already so it was easy to just keep going. I don't know that much about what happens after the end of season 10 so I'm excited for some new things.
Life Updates
This was a BIG month for me. Halfway through January, my partner and I (finally) moved interstate. We'd been planning this move for over six months, and I'm just so glad it's over. Our new place is a little bigger, and there are lots of windows and a garden which the cats are all really enjoying. I think the move is going to be a really positive thing for my mental health and for my partner too. I'm glad I've also got a little bit of time between moving and classes starting so I can have a bit of a bit break after the stress of trying to pack up my entire life.
Now, this would usually be where I'd talk about my current reads or my TBR for the month ahead at this point but I'll share it in a separate post in a few days instead. So that brings us to the end of today's wrap-up. What did you get up to in January?
