This year's theme selected by the Tolkien Society is Service and Sacrifice. The primary goal is to promote the reading of the works of J.R R. Tolkien! To celebrate, Pages Unbound will be featuring a series of posts focused on Tolkien and his works. By Michael J. Miller of My Comic Relief Remember when you were a kid and your parents would warn you about choosing the right friends? If you hung with the wrong people, they'd lead you down the wrong path and you'd find yourself making bad choices. What if everyone starts jumping off bridges?!? Turns out everyone's parents were right and I should've listened because that's how I ended up here, reading The Silmarillion (or part of it) to write this piece. You see, last year I was casually chatting with Briana about reading The Silmarillion and writing about the whole experience for this year's annual Tolkien Reading Event. I'd never read it before and have always been intrigued…and then came the peer pressure. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
