This is the third book in the Amish Legacy series by Amy Clipston. While I thoroughly enjoy reading book series, I prefer starting from the beginning. Unfortunately, I found this book on the New Releases shelf at a local library and the rest of the series was nowhere to be found. So I decided to get it and read it anyway.
Amish books have always held a special place in my heart. I enjoy their simple lifestyle and their close communities. There was a point in my life many moons ago, I pondered living closer to an Amish community to enjoy their crafts and homemade goods.
Anywho, Savannah and her brother, Toby, grew up with their Aunt and Uncle Cole after their mother died and soon after their father abandoned them at their home. It's now nineteen years later and the two have grown up helping at their uncle's store.
Savannah has sworn off dating because she feels she is supposed to take care of her brother after their mother died when she was five and Toby just a newborn. She always stood up for her brother and has put him before herself.
One day, Korey returns from over a year in Ohio and is friendly with Toby. Savannah was skeptical and thought Korey was making fun of Toby like the boys did at school. But Korey was just making friends with her brother. Even Korey has no intention to date after his last girlfriend married his older brother. Talk about a hard pill to chew!
I enjoy Savannah's character and understand her wanting to make sure her little brother has a good life. I also understand how she's skeptical of people who come up to talk to him after his difficult school years of bullying. She has a good heart.
Of all the library books to find, I'm so glad it was this one! I've since found books 1 and 2 of the series on Overdrive and will be reading them soon! I also believe there's a book 4! I give this book 5 out of 5 tiaras since I could not put this down!
Thanks for the Sgt Yano Library for having a great New Release section! And thanks to Zondervan for a fantastic series!
