| | | | First Impressions - Sky Team, Pax Pamir | | | | | | Welcome back to another weekly update. Our son ambushed us with the flu and it has taken us a while to recover. However, now we're back, there's a lot of news to cover. But before all of that, I've had the chance to play both Sky Team and Pax Pamir.
| First impressions
Sky Team is a two-player cooperative game where both players try to land a plane in almost complete silence. You spend half your time trying to balance out a whole lot of instruments, and the other half of your time crossing your fingers that you're not going to die.
| I've played it three times and I'm itching to play more. It's a lot of fun and has a lot of moments of hoping your co-pilot has the right dice. We've only done the intro game, but there are 25 scenarios in the box which I'm looking forward to.
| Pax Pamir is Cole Wehrle's take on the Anglo-Afghan war. You take control of one of the Afghan tribes caught in a power struggle between the British, Russian, and Afghan forces.
It's a complicated and wild game that is part area control, part tableau building, and part just hoping you're backing the right superpower. I had a lot of fun in our plays, but because of the theme and how serious the game takes it. Pax Pamir did not fit my gaming group in the slightest!
| Over the last couple of weeks, I've entered into the VR Distribution media program. This is a board game distribution company for Australia. The first game they sent us was the wonderful Ancient Knowledge, a review for which should be out in the next day or two.
They're also in the process of sending me Wyrmspan, the new Wingspan sequel revolving around dragons. As well as Harmonies, a game about stacking animals on top of each other to create habitats. It looks beautiful. I've agreed to review both of these games in the coming weeks.
| While I'm waiting for those to arrive, I'm also hoping to write a review of Pax Pamir, which I talked about above.
| There's not too much to announce in this space just yet. However, I've been doing some work on the site over the last week - particularly around menus. So if that was acting up... Sorry!
Otherwise, I've hired someone to do a blog audit, even though I don't expect anything to come from that in the next week. It will most likely mean changes to the site in the next month or so.
| That's all for this week!
