Legendary hard rock band Kiss has been acquired by Swedish entertainment powerhouse Pophouse Entertainment, the company behind the Abba Voyage avatar show. Pophouse will bank the entirety of Kiss's music catalogue, brand name, and intellectual property, including the band's iconic face paint designs.
Over their 50 year career, Kiss have sold more than 100 million records, becoming a global hard rock totem in the process.
Pophouse says it has big plans for the Kiss legacy, including a biopic, an avatar show, and a Kiss-themed experience, all with the involvement of the band members themselves.

Johan Lagerlöf, Head of Investment at Pophouse, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Kiss is one of the most recognized and iconic bands in the history of music. Our mission is to fulfil the band's vision to become immortal and let new generations discover and be part of the Kiss journey."
Per Sundin, CEO at Pophouse, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the band's multigenerational appeal and cultural impact. "We will safeguard and enrich this legacy through future global endeavours," he promised.
Much as it did with Abba, Pophouse has created digital avatars of the band, effectively allowing the band and their personas to perform forever. This futuristic vision was previewed at the final Kiss show in Madison Square Garden, last year, where Kiss avatars closed the night with a rendition of 'God Gave Rock And Roll To You'. Gene Simmons, bassist and co-founder of Kiss, hailed the partnership as groundbreaking, emphasising the band's history of pushing boundaries in popular culture.
Paul Stanley, lead vocalist and co-founder, emphasised the desire for Kiss to eternally resonate across diverse facets of global culture: "This partnership is not just a chapter; it's an eternal symphony of rock 'n' roll immortality," he said.
The creation of Kiss avatars is made possible through advanced performance-capture technology developed in partnership with Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), the visual effects company founded by George Lucas.
Pophouse was founded by ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus and EQT founder Conni Jonsson in 2014. The company began its venture into music investments in 2022 by acquiring the catalogues of two of Sweden's most iconic global musical exports, Avicii and Swedish House Mafia.
In related news, Pophouse has also acquired the majority share of singer-songwriter Cyndi Lauper's master recording revenue and publishing. The company says it is planning creative activations inspired by Lauper's pop repertoire, including 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun', 'Time After Time', and 'True Colors'.
