I've been pretty bad at keeping up with reviews this year. I really haven't had much time to get them together and I've had this post languishing in my drafts since February. So I finally finished it off and I've done some very short (and one longer rant) reviews about the books I hadn't gotten around to reviewing yet.
The Deal & The Mistake (Off-Campus #1-2) by Elle Kennedy
I decided to reread these ones while I was on holiday in early February. I read this series way back in 2017 and I've been meaning to reread them ever since. I loved being back with these characters and in this world. I've been a little burnt out on ice hockey romances lately and this reminded me why I love them so much. Still, I decided not to read books three and four and just move onto the next series. These were both four star reads.
The Chase (Briar-U #1) by Elle Kennedy
I read this one at the very end of February, but I thought it made more sense at this point in the post. This doesn't have the same magic as the Off-Campus series, but it was still a really fun read. Summer and Fitz are fine characters. but it was really the set-up for the next couple that I was most interested in. Hoping to pick that one up soon!
The Atlas Six & The Atlas Paradox (The Atlas #1-2) by Olivie Blake

I have very little to say about The Atlas Six. It was a reread. I loved it the first time, enjoyed it just as much the second time round. So when it came to reading The Atlas Paradox, I was ready for it to be one of my favourite books of the year. I felt like the book one ended in a really good spot and I was so excited for the continuation. It started off strong, but it very quickly dropped and now I think this is one of the worst things I've read in a while. I thought this book would have a very clear plot and it did for the start, but then it just went into a lot of academic projects and weird time jumps and side stories. It feels like Blake had all these ideas and couldn't pick which one to use so she just tried to cram them all in and it just ended up as the weird, chaotic but also extremely boring book. I was expecting to not love most of the leads just like I had in book one, but they really felt like cardboard cutouts of themselves in this one. It felt like each of them just got condensed into this one personality trait or purpose and there was no depth or development beyond that. The thing that really annoyed me is that there are so many romances between the characters. I'm in for poly but most of the relationships have no build-up—it feels like Blake was lining up her characters like Barbies and being like 'you two kiss' and 'now you two!'. I want more to the characters than just one trait and a bunch of make-outs, all the while pining for someone else.

Homeric Hymns
This was the only book I finished in March and it was for class. I did enjoy these though. I can probably count on one hand how many ancient texts I've read so far but this is definitely the one I was most interested in. We read a few in class and then I decided to read the others on my own because I wanted to read the hymns dedicated to the gods I'm more interested in—namely Athena and Artemis, and I enjoyed them.
That's all from me today. What have you been reading lately?
