Merlins Musing
Anime Review: Majestic Prince
It's been a while since I've though about Majestic Prince, but I remember really enjoying the experience behind it. This review brought back a lot of the ideas and themes the show was going for in such an interesting way. Especially with how this series looked at the idea of celebrity when they are a bunch of fail teens that can barely pull off victories to save humanity.
The Epic of Valvrave The Liberator
Oh, this one is such an interesting one. That is the kind of show that I watched weekly when it came out for the pure ride of insanity and I haven't looked at it since. So this review makes me want to go back and rewatch it because there seems to be a few layers that I am missing.
Anime Review: Martian Successor Nadesico
I was really to see this post from Merlin, because Martian Successor Nadesico is one of my favorites. I'm glad that Merlin saw a lot of things in it too because it's not just an anime that parodies a lot of different space operad and Mecha. Go on and read this post to find out more.
The Witch From Mercury: A Girl and Her Gundam
This is the latest Gundam series that takes a lot of interesting twists from usual Gundam shows while maintaining seeing standard things. The whole series is actually led by women which there are a lot of series that have really good female casts, but there were never leads. I don't agree with a lot of Merlin says here, but it's worth reading anyway.
Phoenix Talks Pop Culture Japan
Mecha March: Levius
I felt kind of lame reading this post because the anime for this came out around the same time that Megalobox appeared and I just decided to go with Megalobox. But this manga with the themes and idea on how having robotic arms or any added robotic bits would help someone. The talk discussing what a person percieves as mecha and what doesn't also caught my interest and made me question my own point of view of what makes a mecha show a mecha show. I should write about my thoughts on that soon. Otherwise, this sounds great. I should dive into Levius in some form in the future.
Mecha March: Knights of Sidonia (2014)
The first season of Knights of Sidonia is some really good mecha. It's been a regret of mine to never review it on here yet, but I would have to rewatch it to do that. Phoenix does a fantastic job at sharing what is so great about Knights of Sidonia from it's themes to humanities evolution to the great visuals and animation when it comes to Mecha stuff. It really is a classic show that more people should look at.
Lita Kino Anime Corner
Mecha March: The Late Sequel
If you follow Gundam News on social media, you know what this podcast is about. It's Gundam SEED Freedom. Lita and I share very different opinions about SEED and I haven't listened to this yet because I can't watch it in anyway yet, but I feel like I know Lita has a positive opinion about it.
The Overage Otaku
The Power of Three: Darling in the Franxx
A very interesting kind of post regarding the sexual nature of the relationship between the main trio of this show. This one being if you haven't watched the show before at all between Hiro, Ichigo, and Zero-Two. Read this post to know more about it. I'm not giving that away for you, look at it yourself.
