I know, I'm publishing this quite late. Work, Easter, family, taking a break from the screen, it all left little room for blogging.
So what did I get up to in March? Honestly, not a lot. A lot of it was work. I didn't have the same time and energy for reading. Although I did get a lot of audio book time, two of them were re-reads. There were some availability issues. I was really into the latest S J Maas book, but because of the fact I had it first as an e-book and was limited to my phone and battery life, as well as with time, I read it far slower than I would normally, until I finally got the paper copy. I was also really into The Prisoner's Throne by Holly Black, but again was limited only to the e-book. Another book I thought was OK at first, and kept on until the end, but it was a difficult book to keep picking up and sticking with.
My audio adventures were far more successful, even if I only explored a few new things.
Here is a summary of my reading in March:
Books read so far in 2024: 27
Books Read/Finished in March: 7 (.5?)
E-Books: 2 (again, .5?)
Audio: 4
Print: 2 (and a bit? This is getting complicated)
Let me explain. I read a lot of A House of Flame and Shadow as an e-book, in February. Then read about a third of it from the print copy in March. I also read most of Yellowface in March, but finished it on April 1st. I also started the audio of Howl's Moving Castle in February, but finished it in March. For future summary's, I may well just leave out the numbers supposedly specific to one month. I'm not going to delay reading something just so I start at the first of a month, nor am I going to rush unnecessarily to get a book finished within the month, as that will add stress I don't need.
Favourite Read in March: Can't choose. Howl's Moving Castle for being good fun and magical; House of Flame and Shadow because it was wonderfully dramatic and twisty and shocking and just the kind of addictive read I needed; The Prisoner's Throne a more classical Fae story, though a bit tame and ridiculous, it was also the calm sometimes humorous sometimes heart wrenching story I was hoping for; Yellowface because, I suppose, it was real.
Outlook for April
I'm already on to the next in the Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley. I'm on the waiting list for the audio of A Court of Wings and Ruin and waiting for Dolly Alderton's latest fiction book. I'm not really sure what I'll be reading in April. What I can get in the library, probably. I'm going to a book themed quiz in May, and this includes meeting local authors, so I may read some of their books.
