Given the sheer explosion of technical death metal, it's only natural that there would be plenty of bands that rise above much of the competition to become true royalty of the sound. Be it the likes of Symbolik, Inferi, Equipoise, Spawn of Possession, or many others, there are plenty that have done much to elevate the sound to become the utter powerhouse of craziness that it is today. Vale of Pnath is more than worthy of being considered amongst the highest of such acts with it being a long five years since the last time we heard from the band and eight years since their last full-length album. Finally, however, the silence is over with every given second more than enough reason to see why their reign is still unchallenged and undeniable!

Nobody would be remiss in thinking that after years of relative silence that some sort of change would occur especially given the simple fact that bands like Vale of Pnath are constantly pushing the envelope, so why would they do the same for themselves? That's what Vale of Pnath was presented with in the last five years since their EP "Accursed", and it's clear that the quartet was set on furthering what was thrown down in that EP. Infusing more black metal elements into a strong realm of technical death metal without ever once allowing themselves to become diluted or lost in an ambition to craft something too bold, "Between the Worlds of Life and Death" comes together magnificently to stand as another pivotal work from a pillar name in the genre. Despite being immeasurably dense and jam-packed full of technical prowess that cannot be underestimated for so much as a moment, Vale of Pnath sought to make this their most accessible work to date with the sheer intoxication factor enough to grab anyone by the throat to never let go while the thick intensity and supreme power coming together in peak form to ensure that there isn't a millisecond of this eviscerating creation that is easy to fathom even if Vale of Pnath makes it undeniably seductive.

It's all delivered in a magnificent package that is certainly destined to be a highlight of technical death metal both in 2024 and the entire decade as a whole as Vale of Pnath re-establishes their immensity and godlike presence at every given turn throughout this titanic performance. Already have we seen many fascinating entries in the world of technical death metal this year, yet it is every given factor of "Between the Worlds of Life and Death" that the return of Vale of Pnath towers above virtually all of them.
