Last weekend, I was out and about in a lot of ways. This time, I was stuck in bed for most of the Saturday with a terrible cold. I didn't get to walk the dog like usual, but at least there is some great anime that premiered this time. Made the staying in bed worth it in some ways. These aren't even all that I'm interested in. There are still a couple more that I'm waiting for.

Train to the End of the World Episode 1
This show started with a kind of joke at the 5G conspiracy theorists by having a girl being chosen as at the 77,777 or so person at a train stop and then suddenly being forced to activate the 7G system which causes an apocalypse to happen. Cut to two years in the future in a rural town with four girls in a rural town where adults turn into a random animal of some kind and humanity might be doomed. So begins the girl's journey to find the lost girl and their friend in Ikebukuro. We don't know what else to expect in the outside world and I find that amazing honestly. I'm in for this strange ride.
Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf Episode 1
I wasn't expecting much at first, but the opening scene really got me. After that, the episode followed a lot of stuff that I know from the original series. Like, Lawrence Kraft is a trader making his way through to a specific town to buy wheat and then move to the next town. A lot things immediately come up like Christianity vs paganism sort of plot and the festival of the wise wolf Holo to celebrate a good wheat harvest. Lawrence is obviously her escape from that horrible place that mistreats her to the north and the chemistry between Holo and Lawrence is still really good with Holo being the magical girlfriend kind of thing with her being a god and instantly knowing how to get Lawrence in the defense. It made me really happy.

Even the final episode was stuffed with so much stuff that the last few seconds was just there. Silvia's rebellion fell apart because it was scripted all of the Nean's father who was a Nean now who wanted to take over Cyan's body after his Puppeteer's body died and then the combination of Naomi's ID and Rouge's body saved the day. Except, the Usurpers had to appear at the end too because the last scene was Naomi-Rouge fighting against their forces which didn't even need to be apart of it. But the core concept of the Rouge breaking her programming and the Nean having the ability to fight back against humans was good because they are at an even playing field now.
Urusei Yatsura (2022) Season 2 Episode 13

Delicious in Dungeon Episode 14
This episode was pretty crazy. A more focused on Kabru's group after recovering from that second death. Kabru really is a busy body that is very infatuated with our group's personal and politics. Plus, his crew is really interesting. A very unique way to do a recap episode on the current situation. Plus, we really do see how twisted Kabru gets that he can justify killing in a tough spot. Meanwhile, our crew is starving to death. Is time to see how it all connects together in the next episode.
Wonderful Precure Episode 10
More Mayu and Yuki stuff this episode. There was a large focus on Mayu coming up with an idea to sell a new product at her family's shop. There was also a backstory revolving around when Mayu met Yuki which dictated the new Yuki based product which sold amazingly well. At the same time there is still funny stuff happening at school with Komugi and the usual precure catching event with a Garugaru'd raccoon. It's just a good episode that hits on all levels.
BARTENDER: Glass of God Episode 1
I've already written a post about the first adaptation and compared to this one, it's a lot more anime if that makes sense? It still has its cast working for a hotel chain looking for a bartender who can make the infamous Glass of God. There are changes like we see more of Ryuu Sasakura besides his high level bartender phase, but how outside of it he is a complete doofus and possibly a helicopter case. So there is that tension of whether or not Sasakura will take the bartender job at the elite hotel. We shall see what happens and I would say that he won't take the job since I have some familiarity, but this one is different. It all remains to be seen.
Laid-back Camp: Season 3 Episode 1
This was a comfy, but slightly disjointed return for what I consider the best slice of life show. One portion is Rin enjoying her solo camp with a flashback to when she found her love of camping with her grandfather. The fire starting scene between the two was really funny. On the other side are the trash of the cast who want to go camping again and plan to day camp in front of a yard. They also make alcohol lamps as a project which is a lot of fun to see. So it is disjointed but I still love the cast and it looks good.
Astro Note Episode 1
The retro styling of this show with its silly characters and general idea are just a lot of fun. This is a story of a young cook named Takumi who finds his way in just cooking the breakfast for the people at a boarding house. Well, he came in for an interview to be a cook at a restaurant, but he got caught into the shenanigans of the house and the attractive and mysterious Mira throws a few interesting wrenches into the show too. I don't think this is an amazing premiere at all, but it was comfy and that is a good fit for a Friday night.
The Fable Episode 1
I picked this up on a whim and the concept itself is interesting. A famous killer named Fable, after completing an assassin mission against human enslavers, is given the task of laying low for an entire year with his assistant Yoko. The execution is alright and does give us two sides of this assassin Fable with the serious killer who kills without question and then laughs at an unfunny comedian after. With the two moving to Osaka, there seems a lot of interesting things about it moving forward too.
Jellyfish Can't Swim At Night Episode 1
An amazingly strong first episode. One that really dives into the mindset of young girl's whose special projects where either pushed to the side or ignored by the people around them. For instance, Mahiru used to be an artist and an illustrator until her "friends" pushed her away from what she wanted to do and just live a normal life. The appearance of the mysterious girl Kano who was a singer that was wronged in the past but refuses to give up. The two meeting causes a spark in both of them to work together and make each other stronger. It's such powerful first episode.
Sound Euphonium Season 3 Episode 1
Man, this bomb of a show has returned. This episode did so much work from setting up Kumiko as president to reshowing the cast that appeared in the first couple seasons to the appearance of the now second years to putting in some first years as the new people put into performing for this band as Kitauji goes for gold again. All from Kumiko's perspective because she is still the goofy girl she always has been but has more responsibilities she is a bit more prepared for. It really does feel like the senior year and the last time for greatness before going somewhere else. This franchise will never not be special to me.
