Perpetually are the many different realms of death metal in search of a new champion for whatever vein is the matter of discussion with there being always some new act or some fresh album to bring upon us a sense of wonder and fascination the likes of which are not easy to quash for one reason or another. When a new sensation is found, rarely do those who find it let it go easily. Death metal is lucky to be so populated with such variety across its entire spectrum Cavern Womb's entrance was something that should have peaked more than little interest given that it was in conjunction with the reputable Noxis, but there was still the matter of what all the act is able to bring forward. Now, with four massive tracks, we don't have to wonder any longer.
There's no secret to the fact that death metal has embraced quite a bit of cosmic influences into its vast repertoire of madness even if it's something that not many acts are quite adept at bringing forth yet. Although, it's when we do manage to get an act that delivers the goods in such a form that is no less than compelling, we're not wont to let them go with Cavern Womb absolutely meeting all the qualifications for such a splendid act. With its first EP, "Stages of Infinity", Cavern Womb has made a wild return after three years that feels no less than massive in scope and devastating in its delivery! More than effortless in its many different forms of intensity, "Stages of Infinity" is not afraid to drag out the suffering of its subjects in excruciating form with the prospect of speed always on the table as the very cosmos bends and shifts at the very whim of Cavern Womb. Where it was within their entrance with that fateful split, it's evident that Cavern Womb has honed its craft to a magnificently deadly degree to quickly make itself known as a cosmic death metal act that demands to be respected for all that it dares to bring to the table, execute, and perform to spectacular effect.
Nothing is off the table from pummeling death metal to true wonders of the cosmos with "Stages of Infinity" encapsulating some of the very best aspects of what has always made this style of death metal so appealing to begin with while leaving more than enough room for aggressive expansion and further conquests between worlds in the future. The stars themselves aren't safe from the otherworldly madness that Cavern Womb wields, and their light is all but destined to be snuffed out by the magnificent power at work here.
