Crazy Craig's Picks of the Day: 18th May

Based on a series of plausbile events in a regional Victorian town

Well friends, on we go to another weekend of Group 1 racing, with this weekend's highlight being the Doomben 10,000 in Brisbane, featuring I Wish I Win against some plodders, and there's plenty of other noteworthy races on the card, including:

The Group 2 Spirit Of Boom Classic on the Doomben undercard, a race that might serve as a form reference for the upcoming Tatt's Tiara.

The Andrew Ramsden at Flemington, a race that did grant a ballot exemption for the Melbourne Cup, or at one stage did hold a ballot exemption for the Melbourne Cup

A couple of races like the Dark Jewel, the Ortensia and the Luskin Star at Scone for the Scone Carnival, which is actually at Scone after various things happened since 2019, such as robbing Scone of the races and giving them to Rosehill no fewer than once.

And the first Saturday races at Belmont, featuring the Belmont Sprint, which if my understanding is correct, is usually a term for shoplifters getting out of the Belmont Forum while evading the police.

Just remember, avoid the escalators to the car parks, kids.

And so it's on to Crazy Craig, and I would note one of Craig's value picks did run a place last week at somewhere close to $3 the place so he's more than earned this week's Good Luck Charm!

P(r)ick No.1: Weigall Tiger (No.9, Barrier 7) in Race 2 at Doomben (BR2), 12:23pm AEST

1350m BM78 Handicap

Trainer: Kelly Schweida, Jockey: Cejay Graham (a1.5kg), 58kg

Hello hello hello everybody it's Craaaaaazy Craig TBFB, Scratchie King of Bairnsdale, back for another Saturday, and I couldn't give a rodent's rectum if it's later than usual, I AM HERE AND IT IS SATURDAY!

In all honesty, the main reason I didn't get time to finish off my tips is because Crazy Colin made me watch the replay of the Gold Coast Suns-Geelong game twice over, because he's absolutely certain that the Suns are going to finish in the Top 8!

Yeah, they might Colin, if they play every bloody game in Darwin where they can kick 26 goals a game!

Anyway, unlike the Suns I can't live in the past, so we must go to another tropical part of the world called Queensland for the Doomben 10,000 meeting, but as per usual I've got no confidence in any horse actually winning the race, so much so I wish they'd call the whole race off, but instead I'll start early on in the card, where I've seen a Tiger entered in place of a horse...

Considering Richmond and the Wests Tigers are playing in Brisbane this weekend this may be the only Tiger that stands a chance of winning in Queensland this weekend!

It's the Eye of Weigall Tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival!
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the Eye... of Weigall Tiger!

The Lesley Gore Pick: Steparty (No.6, Barrier 1) in Race 7 at Flemington (MR7), 2:50pm AEST

1200m Listed Hilton Nicholas Straight Six

Trainer: Paul Preusker, Jockey: John Allen, 55kg

A horse I only picked so I could make this joke....

It's Steparty and I'll cry if I want to

Cry if I want to, cry if want to

You would cry to, if it happened to you!

The Muppets Pick: Banana Queen (No.11, Barrier 6) E/W in Race 8 at Scone, (SR8), 3:10pm AEST

1400m Fillies & Mares Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic

Trainer: Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou, Jockey: Dylan Gibbons (a), 53kg

Banana Queen

Do doo be-do-do!

Banana Queen

Do do-do do!

Banana Queen

Do doo de-do-do de-do-do de-do-do de-do-do-doodle do do do-doo do!

Actually, with a name like Banana Queen, shouldn't she be in Queensland?

Enjoy your weekend folks, stay safe, stay negative, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, and remember, I'm Crazy Craig, and that's why they call me Craaaaaazy Craig!
