Very quickly did the world of technical death metal come for us, and very quickly did many names rise to the occasion to show us both what they're made of as well as the genre itself. It's an explosion that we're still seeing the rippling effects of even years after that first impact was made with it not looking likely any time soon that the genre will be running dry when it comes to new names constantly pushing the envelope. Taking the sci-fi route that has done great things for technical death metal many times over, Fractal Generator is just such an act with their rise all but undeniable. It was just three years ago that Fractal Generator proved themselves with their sophomore effort, and it's now with their third that they're re-establishing their immense power.
Technical death metal is a truly fascinating style given the high-level craftsmanship that's already needed to put forth even a halfway decent creation with the concept of an already-proven band getting better with time something that could be hard to conceptualize if we didn't have loads of examples to examine from top to bottom. Fractal Generator already knew what they were doing years ago, but it's with all that they've brought forward with "Convergence" that we see the concept of unlikely betterment taken to worlds beyond this one. A truly devastating display of understanding for the sound while always leaving room for inquisitive exploration amongst the stars and between planets ripe for conquest, Fractal Generator takes one confident step after another throughout the absolute entirety of this record to exude dominance and overwhelming power that is all but fitting for their terrifying rise through the ranks of the sound. Ferocious in its infectious power that comes in many different writhing forms that always keep you in fear of their undeniable wrath, "Convergence" sees Fractal Generator tear at the very fabric of our reality to expand their empire with extreme violence and impunity with all driven by a beyond menacing force of technical death metal that makes itself known to be the definition of oppressive right out of the gate.
As impressive in its craftsmanship as it is intimidating in its execution, Fractal Generator's third cosmic excursion is not something to be denied. There are tons of names to keep track of as the realm of technical death metal continues to aggressively push its boundaries further and further as the years go on, and so long as we're given a constant stream of tenacious menace like what we have with Fractal Generator putting out such overwhelming horrors like "Convergence", then there's nothing we need to worry about.
