Hey Pal:
Last year I lost my jedo – to many: a pal
This year I lose cousins and cousins of a pal
Here in the United States, there's the half-joke
"Fireworks or gunshots?" I'd smirk towards a pal
Teta – jedo's – recites Your climb to God's Mountain
Raised from the rocks is a statue of You, old pal
Here the shops sell large fruits shrunk to 'personal size' yet
Watermelon is best enjoyed shared with a pal
Child baba used to avoid the Jordan River
Half-jokes don't resurrect the dead ears of a pal
Here my coworker suffered from some falsities
Telling lies aimed to bring her against You, my pal
Adult baba attended my cousin's baptism
Dipped in waters that submerged the Nazareth pal
Here a boss excused racism for her career
Half-joke politicians desecrate our dear pal
Teta, for breakfasts, pled love to her grandchildren
Plates upon plates upon plates upon plates from pal
Here I once brought watermelon to a function
The red lid squashed all to a mush; I'm sorry, pal
Jedo lives in cited accounts of Your history
Yet lived a pilgrimage away from our old pal
There You will find the gift of a magic carpet
Bombing sealing ceiling-shaped corks above Your pal
Me: I would never know You outside of accounts
Written in the crosswinds by truant pal and pal
You: Dammi min-ak bas ma ba'a raf-ak, Rashid
Shoo a'am-el ghir ma ahki el half-jokes, hobi
