So we're a couple days past the "It's Gotta Be May" memes and a day away from the "May the 4th be with you" memes, and we are ready for the first New Music of May!

Starting the month off, we've got power pop from Lemon Twigs, folk punk from Frank Turner (read our review of it here), jazz from Kamasi Washington, African desert blues rock from Mdou Moctar, brilliant Americana from Adeem the Artist, harmony-laden indie folk from Ordinary Elephants, and indie rock form Spurts as far as albums go. We also have a couple fine EPs from Eevah and Dover Lynn Fox for some short form musical delight.

The mighty folk rock/Americana band American Aquarium announced their latest album this week and dropped a hard-charging new single. Indie folk band Ra Ra Riot have their first new single in five years, and Australian pop-punk group Yours Truly have served up a tasty banger. Soul pop artist Casii Stephan shows more of her vocal talents on her latest, and Charly Bliss have dropped a new blissful single. Australian alt band Atlas Genius have dropped two new singles in anticipation of their next album, and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes have given us their take on an Olivia Rodrigo hit.

Chance the Rapper's latest is a soulful jam, while Sea Girls' continue to exude Britpop excellence on their latest. Royel Otis revealed two new bonus tracks from their debut album, and Other previous NMF alum returning with new tracks this week include Gabriel Birnbaum, Savanna Leigh, Illuminati Hotties, Margaux, Gloom Girl MFG, Ashley Brandenburg, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, iNTeRNeT FReNDz, Better Than Ezra, Petey, Donovan Woods, Death Lens, Cage the Elephant, Rare Americans and Deep Purple.

And of course, we have plenty of new voices to share with you today that have passed the listen-test to earn a spot on our playlist.
