Fans of fine wine and family drama will be delighted to hear that Apple TV+ has acquired the second season of the hit multilingual French-Japanese series, Drops of God.

The series has garnered considerable critical acclaim since its debut. Based on the New York Times bestselling Japanese manga by Tadashi Agi and Shu Okimoto, Drops of God boasts a perfect 100% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series has been lauded as an "unusual, stylish, hugely entertaining drama" and a "hidden gem," with praises for its "taut, elegant, flat-out fun" narrative that is "shockingly mesmerising" and a "thrill to watch."

The series has been lauded as an unusual, stylish, hugely entertaining drama...

Set in the luxurious world of gastronomy and fine wines, Drops of God begins with the death of Frenchman Alexandre Léger, the illustrious creator of the Léger Wine Guide. His passing in Tokyo leaves a profound legacy and an extraordinary wine collection, deemed the greatest in the world by experts.

His estranged daughter, Camille Léger (Fleur Geffrier), a Parisian who has not seen her father since her childhood, is summoned to Tokyo to discover her inheritance. However, she must compete for this treasure against Issei Tomine (Tomohisa Yamashita), a brilliant young oenologist who is considered Léger's spiritual son.

The competition is intense: three wine-tasting tests will determine the rightful heir. Camille, who knows nothing about wine and has never tasted a drop, must face Issei, a formidable opponent deeply entrenched in the world of oenology. This novel duel of biological daughter versus spiritual son forms the heart of the drama.

In the highly anticipated second season, Camille and Issei are once again pitted against each other in a challenge of epic proportions. This time, they must uncover the origin of the world's most magnificent wine, a mystery that even Alexandre Léger could not solve. Their quest takes them to the farthest corners of the globe, where they will confront their deepest fears and transform their lives forever.

Directed by Oded Ruskin, who helmed the first season, and created by Quoc Dang Tran, with production led by Klaus Zimmermann, Drops of God promises to deliver even more intrigue and excitement in its sophomore season.

Fleur Geffrier, known for her roles in Das Boot and Elle, brings a powerful performance as Camille Léger, portraying her character's vulnerability and determination with finesse. Tomohisa Yamashita, acclaimed for his work in Tokyo Vice and Alice in Borderland, delivers a compelling portrayal of Issei Tomine, capturing the character's expertise and inner conflict.

Of course, Drops of God isn't just a drama series; it is a celebration of the world of fine wines, bringing the nuances and complexities of oenology to the forefront. The series beautifully intertwines the art of wine tasting with the intricacies of human relationships, making it a must-watch for wine aficionados and drama lovers alike. TX date is TBA.
