Brielle needs protection, understanding, and patience. She hasn't had an easy life and she's learned to protect herself and erect a shield around herself and her heart. Will she ever find her true self or will she always have to fight and protect who she is? Newton knows how a person can hide from the world by erecting walls and shields around them to protect themselves. He learned how as a young boy, but he was able to fight some of that and learned that not everyone was out to hurt him. Now he'll show Brielle that she can drop her shields and let him in, but he'll have to be patient with her. I loved this story. I don't think I've read a book yet by Marie James that I haven't fallen in love with the characters or story.
