Book Description:
Dream job. Dream house. Fake fiancé.
A year in a gorgeous Italian castle…
When Anna Roberts' life implodes, an online search leads her to an ad for the ultimate dream job – management of a gorgeous castle on the shores of Lake Como, accommodation included. The only catch? Anna can't do it alone…
…With the last man on earth she'd choose!
The castle owners will only accept a couple as caretakers, which means Anna needs a man on her arm at the interview. Enter her neighbour, Jake Tucker. Though Anna and Jake have never seen eye-to-eye, Jake's had a rough few years and an escape to Italy sounds ideal. Yet, when they get the job and jet off, Anna and Jake face an unexpected challenge. Pretending to be a couple is difficult … but pretending the tension simmering between them doesn't exist is quickly proving impossible!
My Thoughts:
I was totally swept away with this novel. I adored the setting of Lake Como and fell in love with the castle and area as much as I did Anna and Jake. The pair are absolute opposites with Jake being a bit of a bad boy whilst Anna loves her lists and being organised. The two shouldn't work in terms of working together never mind falling for each other but over the course of the story they do just that.
Jake is hot headed with Anna being level headed and they do clash quite often and I have to admit with Jake's past, there were times I worried he might lose his cool and ruin things for himself and Anna. Whilst there are some wonderful characters that we get to meet, there are a couple of highly unlikeable ones that I wouldn't have minded given them a good slap myself. There are a couple of tense moments but overall its a fun filled read.
The Italian Job is a will they, won't they story which has humour, heartwarming moments as well as parts that will get you hot under the collar! The chemistry between Anna and Jake jumps off the pages and there are some steamy scenes which usually would make me cringe but they just made me so happy for the couple. The ending was everything I had hoped it would be and left me with a huge grin on my face and a heart that was fit to burst with joy. A wonderfully uplifting read that had me wanting to hot foot it to Italy!
