Apparently the rock scene in France is going strong. Just recently we featured a new grunge-infused band from Paris, Kollision Course, and today we get to introduce you to The Bradley's! Formed in 2020 by 90's rock fans Mat and Fred, the group pulls from a number of influences in the space to form a blend of melodic alternative that basks in the soft/loud dynamics of that age's best music.
Listening to first single "Joy Breaker", the intricate guitar parts that open the song are positively pretty, like something from one of Smashing Pumpkins nostalgic ballads, with the low-mixed vocals painting a soundscape for the drums to march over. When the power chords come in on the chorus, so too do the vocals power up with a mighty rawness. You might think you're hearing a lost band from 1995.
"The Line" trollops along with shoegaze guitars and Mat's hazy vocals before Fred decides to bash his drums as if he had a vendetta against them. "Out of Steel" is more ominous, with its creeping, grunge melody and haunted vocals that would give Layne Stanley nightmares. The moody song turns down the wall of sound to allow each note and beat to echo in the darkness at its center.
So take a audible trip back to the 90's with The Bradley's modern songs in our World Watch Playlist!
