Last night I leapt off the edge of myself. Downed the glimmering vodka like a gasp of river water. The doctor called it an en bloc blackout. Complete amnesia spanning hours. Memory more opaque than a wet lung. As if the eventsnever occurred. But what else would you call the wreckage, breathless brain waterlogged on the morning shore. Sunlight buzzing like flies. I try to explain to a friend over coffee: it's like walking into water with rocks in my pockets. Each time I think I won't drown.
