Grumpy alpha hero alert! Oh man, Ridge is the very definition of that and I just loved him for it – he's hot and broody and grumpy as hell until Callie walks into his life and the man will seriously storm the world to protect and love her!
I enjoyed this book, especially the first half when we are getting to know Ridge and Callie and seeing how they find each other. It seems unlikely that the grumpy former hockey star would be the perfect match for the girl who has escaped a religious cult, but these two are just perfect for each other. Ridge seems to have an innate understanding of what Callie needs and how to be the one to provide that for her. And Callie is just so incredibly sweet and wants to learn and experience life Ridge becomes that perfect guide to push her but respect her boundaries as well.
These are two people who really learn to open up and grow and love together. They develop a relationship that is all their own and they really embrace that. I did especially love the sweet, private moments between them that just feel so special. They genuinely seem like they want to make each other happy. There's a high level of spice in this book to match the sweetness, these two definitely have smoking hot chemistry. Overall, I thought this was a fun and sweet read, it's definitely low on angst but high on swoony love!
