Dublin, Bloomsday, 2016. After a morning spent following Leopold Bloom's steps around Dublin we came across one of the many readings of Ulysses that were taking place around the city that day. This one, from memory, was in the shadow of the National Library. We arrived just as one reader had finished and, before the next one took over, Stephen James Smith took the stage to perform Dublin You Are. It was a brilliant performance and made an important connection between the celebration of Joyce's Dublin which surrounded us and the reality of the modern day city. It is well worth revisiting on Bloomsday 2024.
