What I learned from this book: If you ever get lost, follow the river downstream. 😉
Description of the book: After losing someone close to her, nurse Joelle Diedrich needs a change of scene. But stepping in as a last-minute medical escort on a prisoner transfer flight results in a bigger one than she bargained for.
Waking in the wreckage of a crash, Joelle swiftly gathers that no one else on the plane was what they seemed. And if she wants to make it out of this alive, she must place her trust in the only survivor who's not trying to kill her: Beck, the convicted murderer who was being transported.
Fleeing with Beck presents more than one danger - not only that of simple survival across treacherous terrain, but by making Joelle a target in a ruthless plot. As the threats multiply and Beck and Joelle grow closer, Joelle has to ask herself just how much she's willing to risk for a man she's just met, and figure out whether Beck will risk the same for her . . .
How this book made me feel: This book really surprised me. I was in for a good action thriller but I was not expecting how steamy it would be. 🙂
The protagonist in this book is Joelle, a nurse who is dealing with a loss. Work is her coping mechanism and she is glad to attend to a last-minute request to assist with a transfer of a criminal. Beck is the criminal, he seems very calm, funny and good-looking, so it is no surprise that Joelle fancies him a bit. I really enjoyed reading their perspectives, they open up very beautifully throughout the pages and I loved getting to know them.
The plot is very entertaining and action-filled. However, it has some pretty gruesome details of dead and mutilated people. I really enjoyed how action, romance and suspense worked so well together in this novel. The topics discussed in this book were grief, trust, romantic relationships, survival etc.
The setting of the book is constantly changing, and the atmosphere is very charged, especially between Beck and Joelle. The chapters flew by very fast for me and it was an easy and enjoyable reading experience. I liked the writing style of this book as well, I think the book was very well thought through and delivered.
So, to conclude, this book has surprised me with likeable characters, sexual tension and fast-paced narrative. If you are looking for a thriller mixed with romance, give this book a go, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Thank you for your time! ❤
