Welcome to #WitchyWednesday at SpookyMrsGreen.com! As we inch closer to the Summer Solstice, there's much to reflect upon in our unpredictable British summer.

June has been particularly turbulent, with cold and stormy weather making it feel more like winter than the sunny season we were eagerly anticipating.

Celebrating Summer Solstice Amidst a Stormy British June

It's true, we did enjoy a brief mini heatwave last month that teased us with a glimpse of summer warmth. Those few days of sunshine were a welcome break, giving us hope that true summer weather was on its way. Unfortunately, the subsequent weeks have plunged us back into a wet and chilly reality. But such is the charm of British weather—always keeping us on our toes!

The abundant rain has had quite the impact on our gardens. I've been diligently working on my own overgrown patch, where the weeds have taken full advantage of the moist conditions to grow with wild abandon. It's been a battle to keep them in check, but there's something deeply satisfying about reclaiming my garden space. Thankfully, my neighbour kindly brought his chainsaw over last weekend, and together we cleared a section of woodland that had sprung up almost overnight. The transformation has been incredible and has inspired further plans to cultivate a serene and welcoming garden environment.

Summer garden party plans

My daughter is especially eager to see these changes come to fruition. She has her heart set on hosting a summer garden party for her friends, and with a summer birthday on the horizon, there's an added incentive to get our garden in tip-top shape. We're envisioning a garden sanctuary, a perfect blend of relaxation and play, where the children can have fun and we can all bask in whatever sunlight graces us.

As we approach the Summer Solstice, traditionally the longest day of the year, there's hope that this marks a turning point towards more stable and sunny weather. The solstice is a time of celebration and reflection, of appreciating the peak of light before the gradual return to shorter days. For those who follow pagan or witchy traditions, it's a powerful moment to connect with nature, celebrate growth, and honour the energy of the sun.

Despite the current dreary outlook, the Summer Solstice invites us to embrace the spirit of the season. It's a time to gather with loved ones, enjoy outdoor festivities (even if we need to don a raincoat!), and make the most of the extended daylight. Whether we end up with clear skies or persistent drizzle, the essence of summer remains—a period of warmth, joy, and community.

High hopes for Summer Solstice

So, let's keep our fingers crossed for a shift in the weather. May the sun break through the clouds, and may we find moments of brightness amidst the storms. Here's to creating beautiful garden spaces, celebrating summer birthdays, and enjoying every precious moment of this season, rain or shine.

Happy #WitchyWednesday, and a joyous Summer Solstice to all!
