It is somehow June and thus time to look at my reading goals I set up back in December to see how I'm doing! We'll start with the goals then move onto the Reading Challenges.
Goal #1: Read 50 Books
On track! This is always the easiest goal because I always pick an easy number. I'm currently at 41 books read.
Goal #2: Finish/Catch-up on 6 series
On track! I have caught up on two series, the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire and Cosmoknights by Hannah Templer. I'm on track to finish a series I just started this year, the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. I've been reading a lot of standalone novels this year. I'm hoping in the second half of the year I can finally bang out some duology series I've been sitting on.
Goal #3: Read 10 books over 450 400 pages
Struggling! Also I changed it a little from 450 to 400 pages because it turns out, many of the books I'm interested are either ~400 or 499+ pages!
I've only read two books over 400 pages and one of those books was the worst book I've read all year, so very much put a damper on this challenge.
Goal #4: Read 10 books I physically own
On Track! I have read 5 books I physically own.
Goal #5: Keep up to date on eARCs
A mixed bag? I have 5 ARCs I need to read, three of which are past their publication date. However, I've also been pretty good about not requesting ARCs while I'm in my struggle era.
Reading Challenge #1: Decolonize Reading Journey
As a refresher, this is a reading challenge Started by Dominique of paperbacks_n_frybread with the goal of decolonizing your reading with a variety of prompts. Out of 32 prompts, I have read 8 books that complete prompts. This is the reading challenge I need to do the most work on. I'm hoping to at least have half the prompts completed by the end of the year, if not more!
Reading Challenge #2: Read Queerly
This is a reading challenge started by Alex of obscurepages with the simply goal of reading books with LGBTQ+ characters. Of a total of 25 prompts, I've read 13 books and got a bingo! Here is my bingo board so far!
My goal for the rest of this reading challenge, besides reading more queer books to get another bingo or fill the board, is to read good queer books, because unfortunately some of these books are 2-star or even 1-star reads, and I need more 5-star queer books in my life.
Reading Challenge #3: Buzzword Readathon
This is a reading challenge started by Kayla of booksandlala to take book title trends and make a readathon out of them! I've read 7 books completing the prompts on the list. Here is my graphic right now:
I usually try to complete the prompt in the month it is assigned (white text), but as you can see, I'm not particularly picky (pink text)! Let's see if I can fill up the whole board for the first time!
How are you doing with your 2024 goals, reading or otherwise? Let me know in the comments!
I'm unsure if I'm going to make a proper TBR for this readathon, but in an effort to help myself reach some reading goals, I'll be participating in the Mid Year Reading Scramble (video announcement linked there)!
