This is a picture book with a very valuable lesson. It is a book that parents will be reading to their kids for many years to come.
Randall and Parker are best friends. They do everything together, from soaring through starry skies to swimming with mermaids. So, when Randall meets a fun new sloth of bears, he's excited to introduce them to Parker.
But there's one problem: The other bears can't see Parker! And the more Randall spends with his new group of friends, the less he sees Parker too.
This gentle story from beloved author-illustrator Benson Shum celebrates the beauty and magic of friendships, and the lasting impact both real and imaginary friends have on our hearts.
The whole idea of imaginary friends has always fascinated me. Why? Because ever since I was a child, I created these friendships in my mind and I was able to see and realize that it is possible not feel as alone as I thought I was.
I was an only child when I was growing up. It was in times when I was alone that I concocted all kinds of stories in my mind. And these stories sustained me.
It's interesting how a wonderful picture book like this brought back all of these memories for me.
