2024 is half over, and we're closing out pt. of the year with some fine albums today. We have the latest from Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Guided by Voices, Daniel Nunnelee (read our review here) and the release of a long-lost Johnny Cash album! Then there's a new EP from Norwegian power pop rockers Cocktail Slippers which is easy to enjoy.
And man are there some great singles out from this week. Legendary punk band X announced their final album and released its first single. Bright Eyes are returning and have a new track to enjoy. Rock n' roller JD McPherson is putting out his first new album of original material in seven years, and has a glam-happy new single with it. Tom Morello has released an official solo track with his son, and the great Eddie Vedder has released his take on the English Beat's "Save it For Later".
There's new indie rock from Bloc Party, Foster thePeople, Nada Surf and MJLenderman, new pop punk from Zebrahead, De'Wayne and Felicity, reggae from Calamatix, folk from Pete Yorn, Ray Lamontagne and Wax Owls, and indie pop from Ashe, Anna Shoemaker and Maita.
