Book Description:
THE LATEST PULSE-POUNDING THRILLER FROM THE MASTER OF THE MORAL DILEMMA AND SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER, JACK JORDAN.
Aaron Alexander has just been released from jail after serving eleven years for causing the death of Joshua Moore in a hit-and-run. Now a free man, all he wants to do is stay on the straight and narrow and leave his troubled past behind him.
But for Joshua's mother Evelyn, eleven years in jail isn't nearly enough. Consumed by grief and rage, she has been waiting for Aaron's release, counting down the days until she can exact the revenge he deserves. And now that time has come.
But as Evelyn and her husband Tobias embark on a road trip to track Aaron down, they find themselves caught on two different sides of a gripping game of cat-and-mouse. Because Tobias knows what Evelyn is planning, and he will do anything to save her from herself.
Even if it means protecting the man who killed their son.
Locked in a collision course set in motion eleven years ago, Aaron, Evelyn and Tobias are about to find out whether the road they have chosen leads to redemption . . . or to retribution.
My Thoughts:
I can only imagine the absolute heartbreak of losing a child so I had every empathy for Evelyn and Tobias. It's hard to know how you would feel if it was down to losing them at the hands of another person. Evelyn is consumed with hate for Aaron which is totally understandable but there is definitely a moral to this story as readers will find out.
Poor Tobias has had to put up with a lot. Not only is he dealing with his own grief but his wife's also who has become a different person and it is far from the happy marriage it once was. Evelyn has literally been counting down the days until Aaron's release so she can get her revenge and Tobias is torn as he doesn't want to lose his wife. It becomes a race against time as Evelyn closes in on Aaron whilst Tobias does his utmost to stop it from happening. There are plenty of unexpected twists which were made for some heartbreaking and emotional reading.
Aaron I grew fond of the more I got to know him. There is no getting away from the fact that what he has done is wrong but his circumstances had a lot to do with that fatal day and it gives you food for thought as to why these things happen and that he is very much a victim in all of this as well.
Redemption by Jack Jordan is an all consuming story that is fraught with tension and emotions. My feelings for certain characters changed throughout, even for Lexy the dog! I consumed every word, not wanting to put the book down as I was emotionally invested into Evelyn, Tobias and Aaron's story. It's full of thrills, chills yet broke my heart at times. The author's books just get stronger and better with each one he writes and this is one that will stay with me. Breathtaking!
