Blurb:
Olivia
Four years ago my entire life changed.
A one-night stand turned into the best thing that ever happened to me.
Too bad Mason didn't feel the same.
Now struggling to keep my head above water, I take on a temp job at the same hotel that changed my life.
I never thought I would see him again, but then he walks in. They say lightning rarely strikes twice, so why do I feel like I've been struck once again?
Mason
Four years ago she disappeared into the wind without a trace to be found.
I never thought that I would want more from a woman until I met Olivia.
I only wish she had felt the same.
So when I see her standing behind the reception desk in my hotel, I'm amazed.
Only, she wants nothing to do with me and I can't figure out why.
Can I break down her walls and get her to trust me enough to give us a real shot?
My 4* Review:
Mr Almost is book one in Cala Riley's new series The Kings Of Boston. This is a second chance romance between Mason Williamson and Olivia Knight. An opposites attract and secret baby tale.
There is a prequel to this book called The Christmas One-Night Stand which tells the story of how these two came to meet and what happened on that fateful night.
Mason is a billionaire and the CEO of the family empire which he inherited when his father died. He isn't based in Boston but often visits to help out his younger brother Max who is the manager of the family's flagship hotel. Max has a lot of help from Iris so I really hope this will be one of the love stories. I really liked Mason's two best friends. Eli helps him run the Williamson Group and Brantley is in charge of their other holdings in Boston and also owns the ice hockey team in town.
Olivia could never forgot her one-night stand with Mason as it resulted in her daughter Arianna. Mason rocked her world that night and she thought they had connected. She wanted to tell him she was pregnant but it resulted in a traumatising encounter. She felt he turned his back on her when she needed him the most and would never forgive him. Four years later she has a degree in hospitality and is offered her dream job at the Williamson hotel. She is struggling to pay the rent and although Mason might turn up, she has no choice but to accept. She knew it would be hard working there but didn't realise how hard until Mason appears.
He could never find her because they had only exchanged first names and no other personal information. He is shocked she is at the hotel but confused as to why she seems angry at him. He doesn't know what he did wrong and why she won't give him a second chance. He tries to persuade her to date him as the connection is still there between them. He also wants to find out why her memories are painful when he has fantastic ones from that night. A few situations make Mason curious and he tries to work out what is he missing? Then one day Olivia's world is turned upside down and all the pieces fall into place for Mason.
Olivia's best friend Chloe is hilarious with no filter at all and she's the one who has named him Mr Almost. I have my fingers crossed that she will tame playboy Brantley as they wind each other up so well, their interactions are heated and their banter so funny. I also look forward to who will change Eli's workaholic ways as he is adorable.
Olivia has kept secrets from him and he is angry over all he has missed. There is angst, meddling, family drama and problems to overcome especially when not everyone is happy about their relationship. Will Olivia let him into her life and answer all the questions Mason is desperate for.
He is amazing with Ari who was sweet and always had faith in him. I felt Olivia was too stubborn at times when refusing his help because he worked had to prove himself to her. Will they ever be on the same page and get the HEA they could have had four years ago.
