Synopsis:
Emma Wheeler has had dreams of making it big as a writer, dreams she hasn't let herself think about in years...until her big break comes along: she's offered the chance to write a screenplay with the legendary Charlie Yates. The catch? It's a rom-com...a rom-com Charlie is only writing to get his big Mafia movie made...a rom-com penned by a man who doesn't believe in love.
Emma's up for the challenge, though, and is determined to not only pen the best romantic comedy the world has ever seen, but get Charlie to realize and understand their value. But the more time she spends with this cantankerous screenwriter, the more Emma wonders—can she write her own dreams into reality? Or is it all fiction after all?
My Thoughts:
This is my third Katherine Center book and she continues to wow me. Two scriptwriters--one famous and one not--working together on a romcom script and maybe falling in love?! There was no way I wasn't going to read it. Emma and Charlie are so adorable, and I LOVE Emma's dedication to romcoms. She fights for them so hard in the face of Charlie's grumpiness...even going so far as to make him watch a montage of the best kisses in film!
For most of this book, it was a solid 4-star read for me...and then that ending! I cried. I smiled. I was full of JOY. 5 stars. I think that's what draws me to Center's books--there is grief, hard times, struggles...but also so much joy, hope, and kindness.
I HIGHLY recommend!
