A rising name is almost always something to get excited about. The sheer thrill of a seeing a band in the depths of the underground that manages to climb the ranks, overcome the odds, and defy expectations at practically every turn is not a small feat by any means even if it is the dream of many a burgeoning act in the dark crypts of all that metal has to offer. Wraith has been a name that's been on a constant skyward trend since their first EP seven years ago. Now, armed with their fourth full-length offensive, it's clear that Wraith's ascension through the underground has given them quite an impressive arsenal that makes the act standout effortlessly more so than ever before.
It's almost always tempting to sit here and say that any new material from a rising act is the best thing that band has put out with their excellence only getting better as time goes on, but it's important to temper such expectations out of the gate before getting lost in your own head only to end up blinded by reality no matter how sweet your perception. That being said, it's hour after losing myself in Wraith's whirlwinds of punk-laced black-thrash that I can confidently say that "Fueled by Fear" is likely to be hailed as the best work by Wraith thus far in their quickly growing discography of total annihilation without compromise. By all rights, there's no reason that Wraith should be not considered as one of the hottest acts in this corner of thrash metal, if not the entirety of thrash, with their brand of chaos something that we haven't been able to deny for some time now. Overwhelming with fourteen tracks that are simply overflowing with the punk mentality that has brought Wraith so far in the first place, the infectious terror of "Fueled by Fear" is not something that can be easily turned down with loads of personality, power, and tenacious fury making up the foundational pillars of the record while it's in the speed and intoxicating riffs that we find the driving force behind the mayhem. Those are elements that are to be found across every iteration of Wraith up to now, and "Fueled by Fear" only seems to be the culmination of all that sonic evolution as Wraith's deadly repertoire of madness is a true feast for the senses. Calling for the walls of government to be torn down and the fragile fringes of sanity to be burned, Wraith is in no less than top form!
Where the opportunities for further conquest were laid forth and the possibilities seemingly endless, Wraith has prevailed yet again! To witness Wraith's undeniable rise through the density of the extremely competitive underground with their ever-deadly breed of blackened thrash metal something that cannot easily be put down no matter how hard Wraith goes at it. Whenever and wherever, Wraith proves to be a force to be reckoned with. "Fueled by Fear" is the true epitome of that simple truth.
