It's a very good choice, and one I thought of myself, but erroneously assumed Frank would refuse. I'm very pleased he didn't. Apart from being a lovely man, Frank writes only good books [if you ask me], is the kind of allround educated person who secures a win for his team in the Christmas University Challenge, does the most marvellous events, and also writes scripts for the screen. I didn't actually know until this week that he was responsible for introducing Queen Elizabeth II to Paddington Bear - the real one, I mean - and letting her reveal that she kept a marmalade sandwich in her handbag. A woman after my own heart. Frank obviously cares a great deal about children reading. Let's hope he will have much success in making books more accessible to everyone. (It feels odd to think that today's middle grade readers weren't even born when Frank had the Queen parachute out of that helicopter.) | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
