Let me wash your hair in the kitchen sink. I will blow dry your alpaca hair, beloved it's angry texture, braid this lion's mane into a crown upon your tiny head.
Hush child, I can keep the soap out of your eyes. There has never been a time to toughen up in all of human history, so you should breathe; remember that, as many may tell you otherwise; righteousness prevailed in the Reign of God Kings, it will survive this too.
Dearest, one day you will find the rest of your power but first, you will kneel at the feet of many False Gods who will demand the blood of your body, pain as their sacrifice, you will believe that Fool's God when it speaks in a voice like friendship.
I have kept a jar of your teeth, wedged your fallen hair in a copy of The Giver, I've prayed to you many nights - have you heard me singing hymns? When you had no one to love you, you had me. In death, I will bury you on your left side, so you may finally rest.
And do not listen to those who speak of doom for we must know that the world has ended, will end again, and that we are not the last of Destiny's Holy Children; in our eyes, the dreams of ancient humanity and our nameless great grandmother's smiles.
