Blurb/Synopsis:
When Garvin Haverton lost his husband, he lost himself. Unable to bear the reminders of their love, he left his friends in Los Angeles for the remote Alaskan wilderness, cut ties with his old life, and started over.
Model William Moreau has let Garvin hide for long enough. He misses his friendship, and he has to know if the spark he felt between them could ignite the love of a lifetime. So he packs a bag, books a flight, rents a car… and almost gets himself killed in a blizzard.
When William shows up half-frozen, Garvin is furious. Unlike William, he doesn't need to be rescued. He has a life in Alaska: new friends, a dog, a job. But he can't kick William out into the cold, and it doesn't take many long, cold Alaskan nights before he realizes that he may have a life, but he hasn't moved on. He could do that with William. The chemistry between them could heat his little cabin all on its own. But William's life is in LA, and Garvin can't go back. Is their unlooked-for romance doomed from the start?
4 Stars
This was a sweet second chance mixed with new love kind of story and it was easy to root for Garvin and William! It's really a combination of strong emotions, sweet moments with a bit of mystery thrown in!
After the unexpected loss of his husband Garvin moved away from LA to try to rebuild his life in a small cabin in Alaska. He walked away from everything from that life including his friends, which includes William. William is a model who is definitely in demand even though he's starting to get a little older and he's realized that he misses his friend Garvin. He's had feelings for him for some time and decides he's had enough, that it's time to do something about it. He's not exactly prepared but that doesn't stop him from making the trip to Alaska, in the middle of the snowy winter to try to take on the elements to find Garvin.
Again, I really liked these two and found myself rooting for them right from the start. Garvin is shocked when William shows up on his doorstep, well on his way to freezing to death, but it doesn't take long for William to open up and show Garvin what he really feels for him. It takes a bit longer for Garvin, he's had a very difficult time getting over John's death and moving on with his life. He thinks he's found that in Alaska, but he carries a sadness with him and with William around he starts to feel happiness again.
I liked their process of reconnecting, both as friends and then moving into more. It's clear that William has had feelings for Garvin for a while and I loved seeing him going after what he wanted. I also wanted to see Garvin happy and loved that it's William that brings that back to his life. He really deserves to find love again and these two fit together so well, it just felt natural and meant to be. I loved this Alaskan community, how they embrace each other and work together and Garvin and William fit in perfectly. Overall, I really enjoyed their story and it made my heart happy.
