I'm delighted to welcome you today to my stop on the blog tour for gripping family drama The Divorce by Moa Herngren. Thank you to Anne Cater and Bonnier Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this fabulous book.
About the book:
There are two sides to every story . . .
Together for more than thirty years, Bea and Niklas live a comfortable life in Stockholm. But one evening, following a trivial argument, Niklas disappears. Weeks pass before it emerges that he has met someone else. To Bea's horror, he insists they must divorce.
But is this divorce really coming out of the blue? Is the person who does the leaving always the one at fault? What emerges once you begin scratching the surface?
A brilliant, cinematic and gripping family drama sure to cause a stir in the book clubs and living rooms everywhere, THE DIVORCE explores the unravelling of a marriage from first the wife, then the husband's point of view, as the picture becomes more nuanced and long-held secrets are unearthed. . .
About the author:
Moa Herngren is a journalist, former editor-in-chief of Elle Magazine and a highly sought-after manuscript writer. She is also the co-creator and writer on Netflix hit- show Bonus Family.

My Review:
The Divorce by Moa Herngren is a hard hitting and gripping family drama that reveals its secrets slowly. It tells the story of Bea and Niklas who are living a comfortable life in Stockholm. But then one evening, after a trivial argument, Niklas disappears. When he returns, he tells Bea he has met someone else and, to her horror, insists that he wants a divorce…
Told first from Bea's point of view and then from Niklas's, The Divorce explores the unravelling of a 30 year marriage, becoming more and more nuanced and surprising as the story continues and long held secrets begin to come to the surface. With two sides to every story, is the end of Bea and Niklas's marriage really as much of a surprise as it appears to be?
Skilfully translated by Alice Menzies, Moa Herngren has written a thought provoking and emotional tale that once started I did not want to end. I loved spending time with these characters and, as flawed as they were, could quite happily have carried on reading about them forever!
The Divorce is a beautifully written family drama that really did have me gripped from beginning to end. A surprisingly complex and at times shocking read, the author's writing is stunning as she brings this multilayered and moving tale vividly to life. I loved it!
Highly recommended.
