My Review:
The Love of my Afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood is an emotional, warm and funny read that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. With a memorable cast of characters and a fabulously flawed (and hilarious) leading lady, this is a book that I can honestly say I did not want to end
The story begins as Delphie Bookman chokes to death on a microwave burger, waking up in the afterlife mortified that she died in the most hideous pair of pyjamas that she has ever owned. Unable to accept what is happening to her, she crashes headlong into the most handsome man she's ever seen. A man who is also dead. As they talk she feels an undeniable spark of attraction between them - something she has waited her whole life to feel. But before she knows it, someone runs in yelling that a mistake has been made - and sends the man of her dreams back down to Earth.
Delphie pleads for her life, not ready to leave everything she knows behind - especially now she's finally met the perfect man. So the powers that be offer her a lifeline. She can go back to Earth on one condition: that she finds the mysterious Jonah and gets him to kiss her of his own free will. With a deadline of only ten days, can Delphie convince Jonah, who now has no memory of their encounter, that he's in love with her? Or is she destined to be sent back to the afterlife forever?
With a sparkling storyline and a simply unforgettable cast of characters, The Love of my Afterlife is one of those books that instantly makes you suspend your disbelief, sweeping you away on a magical rollercoaster of a journey that is sure to melt even the hardest of hearts.
Kirsty Greenwood's writing is refreshing as she brings the wonderful and totally relatable character of Delphie Bookman vividly to life. And even though I had a gut feeling of which direction the story was going to take, I can honestly say that I didn't even care as I was enjoying it so much!
The Love of my Afterlife is a warm, funny and often moving read about love, loss, grief, family and friendship that captures your heart from the very first page – and I loved it!
The Love of my Afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood is a fabulously entertaining romantic comedy that I would highly recommend.
