Being a lawyer and community leader in Fort Lauderdale, and the daughter of Haitian immigrants, it was the encouragement of a friend that led her to go into the studio to record her debut single, "Imagine". The song is the kind of romantic, R&B ballad you don't hear often anymore (and that's a shame). From the instant, the vocals on "Imagine" are striking. There's a soothing and emotional tone to them, and an undeniable soulfulness in their delivery. The backing vocals fill out the song, and the mild symphonic touches to the arrangement throwback to a bygone era of the kind of well-produced, classically-inspired pop that you rarely hear anymore. I could hear this song being in a Disney animated film (and getting an Oscar nom with it).
