Richard Bledsoe "The Bear That Ate the Stars" oil on canvas 30" x 36"
"Art moves us because it is beautiful, and it is beautiful in part because it means something. It can be meaningful without being beautiful; but to be beautiful it must be meaningful."
-Roger Scruton
Modern art often lost beauty in its experiments. Postmodern art tends to be ugliness incarnate because it is either meaningless, or the meaning it is trying to convey has nothing to do with an artistic experience.
Art which is merely ugly, that is without redeeming beauty, is a failure. Remodernism restores beauty to art because it respects spiritual significance.
I painted The Bear That Ate The Stars to be as beautiful as a fable.
