Drawing is the foundation of art. And it is accessible to almost everyone. As I said in my book, Remodern America: How the Renewal of the Arts Will Change the Course of Western Civilization:
I'd encourage anyone to try drawing or painting. It's a wonderful experience to coordinate your eye, mind, and hand to produce an appealing outcome. Even though not everyone has the unusual skill set needed to be an artist, simple technical proficiency is a learnable skill. It takes practice, but engaging with art deepens our powers of observation and discipline.

So before you read any more of this post I challenge you to grab a piece of paper. It doesn't need to be fancy, a notepad or piece of copy paper will do. Find a pen and draw something you can see from where you are sitting. No messing about deciding what to draw. I'll give you 30 seconds to decide. Let's face it, this first drawing may not be a masterpiece, but you have done the hardest thing and started. When you have finished, keep your drawing it will be fun to look back on to see how your drawings improve.
