i am a tilting frame holding fast to the wandering wall i felt my brothers paint it gray i felt their heart-whole hammer tight and turn to stone
this price i pay for a reckless leaving they have no time for futile grieving
i am a fading orange rhythm riper than a falling fawn cascade the looming harp growing sweet sounds of elegy
they should not have buried me here.
far from the lands of my countrymen far from the mourning mountain far from the banners of my father's halls
he dares not see beyond.
a true hydrangea, growing bright peace meets our mother by wind, my morningsong
she once called me pink thrush.
for my sister who visits me still watching above slanted cliffs, awaiting her slow sea cure
if you desire a fervent fĂȘte for the day of your return, for bells to ring sharp melodies, for all to gather at garish gates
i would ask you take this dress a feast for the mother, grieved in it, i teem with scented life
my absence gifted illness you, only daughter roam the halls yearning for an age ago
when laughter bounced between saplings, when jam smudged maiden mouths, when rolling hills stained us green.
but you must go swift
before the rising tide kisses the sky before the seaswarm swallows me whole
do not let our brothers paint the walls gray.
tell father of open windows.
tell our mother she can visit me too.
