Aaron Alexander has just been released from jail after serving eleven years for causing the death of Joshua Moore in a hit-and-run. Now a free man, all he wants to do is stay on the straight and narrow and leave his troubled past behind him.
But for Joshua's mother Evelyn, eleven years in jail isn't nearly enough. Consumed by grief and rage, she has been waiting for Aaron's release, counting down the days until she can exact the revenge he deserves. And now that time has come.
But as Evelyn and her husband Tobias embark on a road trip to track Aaron down, they find themselves caught on two different sides of a gripping game of cat-and-mouse. Because Tobias knows what Evelyn is planning, and he will do anything to save her from herself.
Even if it means protecting the man who killed their son.

Locked in a collision course set in motion eleven years ago, Aaron, Evelyn and Tobias are about to find out whether the road they have chosen leads to redemption . . . or to retribution.

My Review

My second book by this author and I can only say one word...brilliant!! I absolutely loved this book and was hooked into the storyline right from the first chapter. We meet Evelyn and Tobias Moore, an English couple now living in America. Their son, Joshua was killed 11 years before by a hit and run driver, Aaron Alexander. Aaron has recently been released from prison and whilst Evelyn and Tobias have tried to live their lives over the last 11 years, their grief has been eating away at them. Evelyn, in particular, has been waiting for Aaron's release date so she can track him down and exact revenge.

This was an amazing read which grabs your attention from the very beginning. I felt so sorry for Evelyn and Tobias, losing their son in the way they did and honestly couldn't imagine what they were going through. I felt like I should hate Aaron's character, but strangely really liked him and felt sorry for him also. We follow the storyline from the perspectives of all three characters and the book takes us on a rocky, violent and sometimes sad journey across the American desert in search of revenge, redemption and forgiveness. All three characters are worthy of "the best character" award, but it ultimately goes to Tobias, for reasons you will realise when you read the book. The storyline is fast paced, full of tension and suspense and will have you glued to the pages.

After only two books, this author is fast leap-frogging his way up my favourite authors list. It is so well written and is full of powerful emotion, to the point of it being shocking. It will though captivate you and if you're anything like me you won't realise what's going on around you whilst
you're lost in Evelyn, Tobias and Aaron's stories. Absolutely amazing writing, what more can I say!
