A funny stand-alone sci-fi book.

Thomas Stein is a young agent to Hollywood stars. Or rather would-be-stars. Only one of his clients have hit it big: Michelle Beck. Tom has just signed her a 12 million dollar deal. That's when his boss, Carl Lupo, wants to talk with him. Carl wants Tom to get rid of his clients. At first, Tom panics and isn't reassured when Carl explains why Carl wants Tom to do that. Carl has encountered real space aliens and they want an agent. The aliens, called Yherajk, have been watching broadcasts from Earth and since the Yherajk look likr blobs of jello and commuicate through (bad) smells, they need a way to introduce themselves to Earth without humans panicking. And Hollywood is their best bet.
This was a very funny sci-fi novel. The Yherajk are quite different from most of the other aliens and they're friendly. They're smart and also funny and relatable.
Tom sheperds one of them through Hollywood. The alien is in a water bottle. This all sounds crazy but works surprisingly well. I really enjoyed this satire of first contact story. It has a bit of criticisim of Hollywood thrown in, too. However, I didn't really care for the romance which was very cardboard. I found it weird that such a light book also had weighty themes around the Holocaust and a coma patient's right to live. Also, making fun of suicide and domestic abuse felt really out of place.
