Blurb:
Wilder Cromwell is pure temptation in a delicious package.
Gorgeous. Smart. Athletic.
He's also my student.
The minute I saw him, I should have known better.
But falling for him was as inevitable as breathing.
He's more than just a face in my class.
He's the man who came to my rescue on one of my darkest nights.
Wilder has become a safe haven against my husband's monstrous brutality.
Being with him is an escape from the cage my life has become.
With him I'm adored and I'm safe—two feelings I've never felt before.
But one mistake, on one unforgettable night, changes the course of my fate.
Or maybe, it just put me on the path I was always meant to be on.
Wilder and I might be wrong to the universe, but in his arms, nothing has ever felt so right.
My 4* Review:
Wicked Scandal is book two in the Misfits series by Rachel Leigh. A student / teacher forbidden romance between Wilder Cromwell and Catherine Jenkins. There is no denying the chemistry between these two but things are more complicated than Wilder first assumes. Not only is there an age-gap between them but she is married and keeping secrets about her life. Amongst the angst and suspense there is some family drama and the election battle. The author tackles the hard subject of domestic abuse so please beware as some scenes are graphic.

In Heartless Monster we got the impression that something was going on between Wilder and his high school teacher Mrs Jenkins, so I was looking forward to how this story was going to unfold especially when his father announced he was running for Mayor against her husband.
Wilder is a senior and about to graduate. He showed in the first book how different he is from his twin Rome. He knows what he wants to do with his life but at times lacks confidence. He loves posting on his social media account but his family don't understand his passion.
Catherine has hard a hard life and when she thought she'd been rescued, her hero turned out to be just as bad as her past. Her husband Troy is the Mayor and loved by everyone but it is all fake and he isn't the man everyone think he is. He controls her life and makes it a living hell of pain and violence, which she hides from everyone.
This forbidden romance starts when she helps him with an essay one day and they both feel the instant connection. She begins to follow his social media posts as they bring her some happiness to her sad life. She chats anonymously to him and hints at how she is feeling and what she is going through. He persuades her to help him with some work again and as they get to know each other, their feelings grow. She is scared of the repercussions if they get found out but won't reveal her secret. He has concerns about her especially due to how she dresses at school. Then one day he sees how rough her husband is with her and gets suspicious over what her home life is like.
Wilder is adorable and so mature for his age that the eleven year age-gap doesn't really affect them. He is romantic, thoughtful and becomes very protective of her as he knows she is in danger. She is petrified her husband will hurt him because he is already threatening to expose Wilder's family so he can win the election. There are some really heartfelt moments between them and it gets very steamy. It was nice seeing Rome and Elodie were still in love and doing well. I did get concerned about his brother Callan as he seems to be spiralling out of control.
How will she react when he guesses who CatsEyes really is? How long can they keep their relationship a secret? There is a fun and sweet epilogue after a dramatic ending. A good taboo story and nicely written. This couple are actually perfect together and need each other more than they knew. She saw his vulnerability and he saw her.
