It's been a while since I finished up the Flatiron Five Fitness series of contemporary romances, and I've been playing around with a lot of different new series ideas. I'd been sure we'd go to Harte's Harbor next, but people didn't seem as excited about Aidan's story as I was. I had to reconsider before digging into a whole new series.
Now I have it. 🙂 The new series is called The Carpe Diem Café and it's set in a sleepy small town in Canada called Empire. Nothing much happens in Empire, but when Merry opens her farm-to-table bistro - The Carpe Diem Café, named for her own philosophy - that all changes. Her view is infectious and when people take chances, change is inevitable—and happy endings become possibilities. Soon things start to heat up in this little town and change is on the menu
We'll start with Luke and Daphne's story, Just Trouble. He's the illegitimate son of the richest man in town, the bad boy who couldn't wait to leave, the guy who started a band and became famous—until disaster struck. Now he's on a quest to right old wrongs, and comes to a local lawyer for help. Daphne is relieved Luke never knew how much of a crush she had on him in high school. It's part of why she finds him and his plan irresistible. Maybe this is her chance to get over Luke for good.
Or maybe not. 😉
Just Trouble is coming in February 2025. Pre-orders are up at the portals now. The plan is for book #2 to be a June 2025 release, and book #3 to be published in October 2025. I'll try to stick to that four-month publication schedule for the entire series.
If I recognize trouble when I see it, it's because I grew up with a huge crush on my best friend's older brother, Luke Jones. Born with sinful good looks and enough charm to talk himself out of almost any situation, he's always been a rebel with attitude to spare—as well as gorgeous, reckless and dangerous for good girls like me to know. Though he's found fame, fortune and all the fan-girls with his band, Luke remains the star of all my secret fantasies.
But now, he's back—one sizzling look is enough to set my world on fire— and he wants a favor. (From me!) Time to make the world a better place, Luke says, but I recognize half a story when I hear one. Does it really matter? I need to ditch this crush before it's too late for me to fall in love for real and find my own happy ending. Luke doesn't need to know that it'll be more than a favour for me. He also won't linger in the sleepy little town of Empire, and when Luke leaves this time, he'll be gone forever.
The problem is that the other half of the story is the kind of revelation that hooks me hard. Luke's on a quest to right old wrongs, and making the world a better place is pretty much my theme song. Am I crazy to hope for more from the man who has only ever committed to his music? By the time I learn the whole truth, will my heart be lost forever? For once, though, I'm not going to play it safe. Win or lose, my time to seize the moment is now.
Coming in February 2025
