Ever since I read The Swimming Pool I've been a fan of Louise Candlish. She is most definitely a go to author of mine, a most definite auto buy. I've loved all of hers I've read and I've still got some of her back catalogue awaiting me. I was lucky enough to attend this event and to bag my copy of Our Holiday 4 days early.
Sadly, I've had a bit of a weird headache so I haven't started it yet but I cannot wait to dive in. Louise has a way of writing characters you love to hate and I can't wait to meet them.
Just before the event I started listening to Gillian McAllister's Anything You Do Say and almost instantly was shouting at the leading lady Joanna telling her what to do. I had obviously heard of Gillian and Jane but hadn't read anything from either of them. I have a copy of one of Jane's Maeve Kerrigan series although I found out it's a few in so whilst I was waiting for the event to start I purchased the first in Jane's series.
Louise and Gillian signed my copies. Jane I'll hopefully properly meet one day.
Louise and Gillian are very similar in some of their writing styles so I'm intrigued to learn more from Gillian. The evening was enlightening and was exactly what I needed whilst I wasn't feeling great. Books and book people are actually the best people. I have to mention Jane as I think she was an excellent interviewer - asking all the questions we were to shy to ask.
I hadn't realised that before Our House Louise was thinking of giving up writing and that was to be her last hurrah. I'm so glad it wasn't. We wouldn't have had Those People My Review. The Other Passenger My Review. And The Only Suspect My Review. Before this one so for that I am truly blessed. Louise has got me out of many a slump and she's an author I will always recommend. Since penning this post I've managed to add a few more of Gillian's books to my Libby library so watch this space.
A really great evening and thanks to a fellow attendee for taking my picture with these lovely ladies.
